About K1 Media & me

Hi, I am Kalo

I’m a photographer and videographer based in Brisbane, Australia. Photography has been my passion since I was young, and over the last five years, I’ve had the chance to turn that passion into my career.

  • The Story

I grew up in a family of problem-solvers—my parents are in IT and mathematics. While they could lose themselves in numbers, it wasn’t really my thing. My creativity always pulled me in a different direction, and that’s where photography came in. Since I was a kid, I was fascinated by the way a camera could freeze a moment and capture a story. After earning my diploma in photography and freelancing for the past five years, I’ve found that telling visual stories is what truly drives me.

  • The Passion

While freelancing isn’t always easy (trust me, cold calling is not my favourite), the freedom to create and work with different people makes it all worth it. Photography lets me blend my love for the creative with the technical challenge of getting the perfect shot. And even though the journey hasn’t been simple, each project is a reminder of why I chose this path. I keep up to date with latest trends, professional techniques and the best technology available to deliver great photos and videos. I created K1 Media to have a solid platform and build a brand I can be proud of.

  • The Adventure

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll probably find me at the gym or climbing rocks—literally. I’m passionate about rock climbing and fitness, and I believe they both help me stay focused and creative. I’m also the youngest of four brothers and a sister, so you could say I’ve always been competitive in life, whether it’s scaling a wall or capturing the perfect sunset.

  • Why Brisbane?

Originally from New Zealand, I moved to Brisbane at the age of 12, and it quickly became home. There’s something about this city—the mix of urban life and nature, the light and the landscapes—that constantly inspires me. Brisbane isn’t just where I live, it’s the backdrop for many of my projects, and the place where I’ve built my career. Whether I’m shooting a cityscape or a portrait, Brisbane plays a huge role in my work, and I love every moment of it.

  • What’s Next?

I’m constantly learning and pushing my creative limits, whether it’s in the studio or out on a climbing trip. Looking ahead, I see myself growing as both an artist and a professional, taking on more exciting projects and connecting with amazing people who love what they do. I believe every image has a story to tell, and I’m here to capture it.
